CG Cookie Migration FAQ - August 2026
Everything you need to know about CG Cookie moving to its new platform. If your question isn't here, reply to the announcement email or reach out through the help desk.
The basics
What's happening? CG Cookie is moving to a new learning platform. Same courses, same instructors, same community, on a stronger foundation that lets us build things the old site couldn't support.
When? The move happens the first week of August. The hard deadline for saving anything you want to keep is August 4. After that, some content from the old site won't be available.
Do I need to do anything to keep learning? No. Your account, and course access all carry over automatically. The only thing that needs your attention sooner than later is saving the items listed below before August 4.
Will it cost me anything or change my plan? No. See the Billing section below.
Saving your work before August 4
Some things don't make the move. We don't have an automatic export for these, so you'll need to save them yourself. Here's how.
Gallery work and exercise submissions There's no bulk download, so save these one at a time:
- Go to each piece of your gallery work or past exercise submission.
- Right-click the image and choose "Save image as" to download it to your computer.
- Do this for anything you want to keep. Once the old site goes offline, these won't be retrievable.
Lesson notes
- Open any lessons where you've written notes.
- Copy the text and paste it into your own notes app, a document, or your Blender journal.
- Notes are not carried over to the new platform.
Personal playlists / custom learning tracks
- Open each playlist you've built.
- Write down the course and lesson order somewhere you'll keep it.
- Playlists don't transfer, so a quick list now saves you rebuilding from memory later.
If you don't use the gallery, keep notes, or build playlists, there's nothing you need to save. You're all set.
Course progress
Does my progress carry over? Partly, and this is the important part:
- Completed courses stay completed on the new platform.
- Courses you haven't started will be waiting for you, untouched.
- Courses you're partway through will reset. In-progress status does not carry over.
What should I do if I'm mid-course? Two options before August 4:
- Finish the course so it lands as completed, or
- Note which lesson you stopped on so you can jump back in quickly.
You won't lose access to the course itself, only the marker showing where you were.
What's new
A few things arriving with the move:
- Group learning
- Course completion certificates
- Live programming
- Improved community features,
- Much more...
A CG Cookie mobile app is in the works and will arrive later this year.
